Corporate
America Rocks is a comedy about a ragtag
group of office workers who compete in a national
competition for corporate rock bands (based on an
actual event). To succeed, they must overcome their
personal demons and differences and avoid a pair of
dangerous underworld "loan collectors" in
hot pursuit.
Aging 22 Years - Instantly
More than 20 years ago, three members of the cast
actually appeared in a music video. This archived
footage provided first-time filmmaker Lance Ritchlin
a unique opportunity to show several characters at
stages of their lives that are decades apart. Watching
characters actually age more than 20 years instantly - without
makeup or special effects -- is an astonishing thing
to witness on film.
An Off-the-Wall Film
The film shatters many movie clichés, from
a fight in a cramped closet to a bizarre car chase
through the suburbs. The combination of hard-driving
rock 'n' roll, in-your-face corporate setting, and
off-the-wall characters prompted one observer to call
Corporate America Rocks "the illegitimate son
of Office Space and Spinal Tap!"
Ever Lost a Dream?
This film has a lot to say about people - especially
musicians -- of all ages and the times in which we
live. The office workers in the story work for a company
that suffered through an ENRON-like collapse. This
film will strike a nerve with baby boomers, especially
underachievers just now coming to terms with saying
goodbye to the dreams of their youth. Many, in fact,
were looking forward to a quiet, comfortable retirement
until that dream, too, was shattered by a failing
economy and the evaporation of their retirement accounts.
Art Imitates Life
The characters in the film bear eerie similarities
to the actors who play them. For example, take the
character nicknamed "Morbid" is played by
Dave Frisk. As with his character, Frisk is a veteran
guitarist who has remained an active songwriter and
performer for more than three decades. His virtuoso performances on guitar
are a major asset to the film. Please visit his Web site
